DRAFT                              SVMARC General/Board Meeting                   July 7, 2010

 

Meeting called to order by President Bill Alley at 7:07pm.  Minutes were read and the correction of 29 Sport Coupe for Ron Bueno, add President had no report, and quad 4 engine.  With those changes and additions minutes a MOTION  Bruce Curley to accept as changed, and 2nd Armando Gutierrez, motion approved.  Bill discussed the great time we all had at the Pony Express Run. 

Vice President: Armando Gutierrez, no report.

Secretary: Lauren Alley, Franchise Tax Board has requested the corporation change to a Mutual Benefit, documentation will be sent to Secretary of State.

Treasurer: Lauren Alley, received applications for Hub Tour. Shared account, Hub Tour account, and checking balance in the black.  No bills and no disbursements for last month.

Membership: Lauren Alley for Pat Lovejoy, New members for July Tom/Pat Rut, Jerry/Janet Lutterman, John/Nancy Carvalho, John Cammack & Karren Pekrson, currently 53 members and 28 family memberships.

Activities: Bill Rose, The 1st Pony Express Run put on by MAFCA all had a great time.

We traveled to Casper Wyoming, Cody Wyoming, saw the Buffalo Bill Cody museum with more than 3K guns, then through Yellowstone Park seeing many animals and Old Faithful erupt, Jackson Hole, Grand Tetons seeing Teton Lake, enjoying a western BBQ and show, and white water rafting.  This next weekend we will have a pre-run of the Santa Cruz Hub Tour days meet at Deleveaga Park at 8:00am.  Pat Lovejoy is leading a day on the Hub Tour.  Routes need to be adjusted due to Hwy 9 closings.  Need help with leaders to drive the routes for the Hub Tour.

Sunshine: Linda Gutierrez, Birthdays for July, Bruce Curley, Pat Lovejoy, & Linda Gutierrez.

New Business: Bruce Curley was sworn in as the new Editor/Web Master for SVMARC.

Bad Luck Truck: Bill Rose for pulling out another engine from his A.

Henry Award: Kenny Thomson for picking up Bill Rose in Nevada while on the Pony Express Run.

School Bell Award: Lauren Alley for not learning how to pack the Model A more efficiently on the Pony Express Run.

DRAFT                          Board/General Meeting                         May 6, 2009

 

Meeting called to order by President Bill Alley at 7:05pm.  Guest Ken Strasser was announced he has a 1930 Roadster with 130 miles in 40 years.  Board minutes were read from April by Bill Alley spelling errors were corrected MOTION to approve minutes with corrections Alfi Gerhart, 2nd Pat Lovejoy all approved.

Vice President: Armando Gutierrez, will have documentation filled in by members for registering their A’s with MARC for mileage award at the next meeting.

Secretary: Lauren Alley, no correspondence. Other clubs have expressed they would like a club newsletter regarding our MARC club sent to them. We discussed paying someone as a webmaster to organize a newsletter and the website if no one can help in this area. Our webmaster Will still does not have a computer and I have been posting as much information as I can as quickly as possible, new information has been posted within the last two days on the web.

Treasurer: Lauren Alley, since our last meeting Bill Rose signed a check for $25.00 for the crab/steak feed gift basket from our club, club officer bags were purchased from Slic Art for $180.54 and a deposit made of $30.00 from our new member Stanley Soito, our current bank balance was announced. 

Membership: Pat Lovejoy announced three new members Stanley Soito, Les & Bobbie Andrews, and Ken Strasser.

Activities: Bill Rose, Bill & Lauren Alley reporting for Bill Rose, an activity sheet was passed out to all as shown on the web of calendared events. Announcement of Sat. seminar cancelled due to Bill Rose being gone.  Bill Rose is still working on coordinating a Weber carburetor seminar in Gilroy.  Ed Shannon explained his seminar of the Mitchell overdrive installation and his progress to finish fixing his brake system, back motor floater was in the way of the brake system. Don Hubbard explained the Testicle Festival Tour, Tulare Antique Tractor show, and an impromptu tour of a milking dairy where 6K cows a day are milked, the trip was a lot of fun for everyone. Bill & Lauren explained the fantastic tour to CCRG Porterville and the back roads taken through country side, to the beach, and inland through the valley.  The next tour will be to Lake Tahoe/Roundup we will leave Thursday traveling through Yosemite on May 21st.  Ken Strasser announced the Bertolotti’s check in of vehicles for the endurance run and car collection June 13th.  June 14th Model T Low Land Tour, June 20 & 21 Woodland Antique Tractor show.

Sunshine: Linda Gutierrez, Ken Thompson fell off his tractor he went to the hospital they sent him home and he is doing better now.

Old Business: Clothing was presented with logo MOTION to accept the shirts with logos as presented on black/white/navy blue shirts and red hats by Alfi Gerhardt, 2nd Don Hubbard, all approved.  Orders were received by members.

Henry Award: Bill Rose for making a bracket for Bill Alley’s emergency brake arm extending it. MOTION to accept Don Hubbard, 2nd Pat Lovejoy all approved.

Bell Award: Don Hubbard because he ran out of gas in his car and didn’t realize it as he was trying to fix another problem and didn’t know why the car wouldn’t run.  MOTION to give Don this award Lauren, 2nd Ed Shannon all approved.

SVMARC Board/General Meeting        4/1/09                          By: Lauren Alley

 Meeting called to order by President Bill Alley at 7:30pm we have a quorum.  Members announced their name and type of vehicles.  Minutes read MOTION by Don Hubbard to change sentence to read “due to Bill Rose being sick”, 2nd Pat Lovejoy all approved.  President Bill Alley donated to the club $35.00 in tips he made from the Bill Rose Crab Feed. 
Vice President: Armando Gutierrez, contacted MARC they will change our name in the next magazine print from Silicone to Silicon. Armando announced Ed Hedgpeth may need some help getting his A running.  Armando will also implement the mileage program for the club.
Secretary: Lauren Alley, MARC director of regions stated we were the first club to register with MARC in California in quite a while, since our registration 9 California Chapters have registered.  It may be possible in the future for MARC to bring events to California.   MARC pins are awarded starting at 25yr.   MARC mileage program we must register all vehicles reporting approximate mileage from January 1, 09 cost $1.00 per vehicle to register for the life of the vehicle being registered with MARC. The vehicle may be purchased by another individual, new owner would need to remit $1.00 to MARC for the name change however the mileage would be cumulative from the old owner to the new owner.   As of January 1 all members report mileage, awards are at 2K,5K,10K,15K, etc. Mileage reporting will roll over from year to year until you have accumulated for an award. Information regarding the mileage program to be sent to the MARC director by Dec. 31st each year. MARC does not offer D & O insurance at this time. MARC does cover each chapter for liability; I will contact Sheila in May for policy documentation pertaining to each chapter coverage they will be signing a new policy. The current MARC President has recommended to all Chapters that they have their own liability policy to cover their chapter. All members are required to be registered with MARC for insurance coverage.  Discussion on members without registration in MARC would be a liability. No swap meets allowed, vendors not covered, bodily & property currently 2mil aggregate, umbrella is 3mil. 
Treasurer: Lauren Alley, bank account figures were announced, Bill Alley donated $35.00 from tips at the Bill Rose Crab & Steak Feed to the club bank account. No checks were written since the last report.  MOTION Lauren A. to pay Linda Gutierrez (sunshine) for her receipts of cards and stamps $51.17, 2nd Melvin Kruescke, approved by the membership.  Bags for board members should arrive by the next meeting they are being embroidered. Name tags will  be shown for approval at next meeting.
Membership: Pat Lovejoy, Pat will contact Hedgpeth, Ed regarding his MARC number.
Activities: Bill Rose, Thanked all for attending and HELPING at the Crab/Steak feast. Thanks to Bill Alley for donating his tips to the club. No seminar in March, April 5th installation of Mitchell overdrive in Ed Shannon’s coupe. April 17th, 18th, & 19th Testicle Festival party in Le Grand at the Bright’s ranch. Prior to the Festival we will see a tractor museum with about 1,500 old vehicles and tractors. Tour in May still undecided possible Mushroom Factory.  Don Hubbard suggests carburetor seminar possibly for a weber.  There is a carburetor shop in Morgan Hill some would like to arrange a tour, this will be looked into.   June will be Woodies on the Wharf over 200 cars last year get there earlier than 8am to get a parking place.
Old business: discussion on clothing for hats and shirts, webmaster needed for the club and a MARC representative keeping us updated with information and sending in club newsletter 250 words or less for the Model A News Magazine printed every 2 months. Please let us know if you can help.
Bad Luck Truck: given to Bill Rose for his clutch cover bolts being stripped MANY times.
Bell Award: given to Bill Alley because the front springs were forgotten after they put an engine in the vehicle.  Pat Lovejoy told all how to fix the problem. 
Henry Award: To Bill Alley for donating his tips to the club and removing Bill Rose’s engine for repair while Bill R. was sick.
New Business: Brian Freestone resigned as President of MAFCA. Les Andrews is the newly elected president.  Dave Jones had quit the MAFCA board prior to Brian resigning and is now back on the MAFCA board.  Many members have left MAFCA for 2009. 
Items for sale and in need: Don Hubbard still has is car for sale, Ed Hedgpeth has items to sell, Bill Rose still needs AR backing plates.
Advertisers: Are still needed please help out, Pat Lovejoy has applications.

SVMARC General/Board Meeting   3/4/09                 By: Lauren Alley

 

Meeting called to order by President Bill Alley at 7:32pm.  Membership and guests announced themselves. New member Kevin Enderby welcomed!  Bill Alley announced we have a quorum. Minutes from February were read, MOTION to approve the minutes as read by Kenny Thompson, 2nd by Pat Lovejoy.  All approved motion passes.

VICE PRESIDENT:  Armando Gutierrez would like a seminar on upholstery using his car.  Members thought that would be a good idea.  Armando has a friend that may help with the sewing of the upholstery.  Armando will call MARC offices to change our name in their magazine Model “A” News from Silicone to Silicon.

SECRETARY/TREASURER: Lauren Alley, reviewed mail received. Bill Rose explained the purchase of bags for each officer to bring their information to each meeting. MOTION by Bill Rose to purchase these bags from Slic Art to be used by each officer in the future, 2nd Don Hubbard. All approved to purchase the bags. Bank balance, expenses, & income were announced.

WEB/EDITOR: Bill Alley reporting for Will Rose, we are keeping as current as possible. Will Rose had a computer melt down and needs a new computer.  Bill Alley is filling in to post information please be patient.

ACTIVITIES: Bill Rose, Ed Hedgpeth reports on the Snow Train Tour, five members attended going and three members returned together on the train. Paulette Thompson fell ill and their son picked Kenny & Paulette up in Reno from Tracy.  We saw lots of snow as we passed through while on the train, snow fell while traveling.  Walking through the Car Museum was very enjoyable for all.  Lunch at Louie’s Basque Corner with Kenny was very good.  Armando’s overdrive seminar will be in April it was rescheduled due to Bill Rose being sick.  California Antique Farm show April 17th, 18th, & 19th in Tulare. No charge to enter the event. Average expenses: $200.00 hotel, fuel approx. 600 mi. up and back.  March 27th deadline to notify Bill if you are going.  March 15th Crab Feast, help is needed on Sat. Sept. 13th Model T event at Kelly Park “History in the Park”.  San Francisco Crab feed five members attended. 160 people attended their 1st event it was very enjoyable we will go back again if they decide to have the event again.  8th graders earned money by serving at the event for a trip they will take to Washington, D.C. this summer.  Discussion by members on attending two events that would be attended by SVMARC & SCVC since members belong to both clubs, it was decided to wear club wear for the club you will travel with at each event.

SUNSHINE: Linda Gutierrez, Pat Lovejoy had several surgeries, Sandi Rose had a couple of surgeries in March. Paulette Thompson fell ill while on the Snow Train Tour, Wilma Shannon has been ill, Lauren Alley had sinus infection, all members seem to be doing better.

BAD LUCK TRUCK: Bill Alley makes a MOTION for Paulette to win, for her bad luck on the snow train, all in favor.

BELL AWARD: Armando Gutierrez for working on his Model A in the rain while a flow of water ran underneath him causing him to fall ill. All in favor.

THE HENRY AWARD: Pat Lovejoy MOTION to recognize Lauren Alley & Bill Rose for their concern during his surgery, 2nd Melvin Kruescke, all in favor.

NEW BUSINESS: Guidelines for tour leaders and attendees by Bill Rose discussed. Guidelines to be brought by members for the next meeting review.

FOR SALE: Don Hubbard has Huckster for sale.  Bill Rose looking for AR backing plates. A/R specifically does not have the emergency brake, (rear) and does not facilitate a braking system.  Ed Hedgpeth has a dump truck body and bed for sale. 1930 or 1931 Athey body contact Ed Hedgpeth.

SVMARC General/Board Meeting               2/4/09

 

PRESIDENT: Bill Alley, called the meeting to order at 7:15pm. Guests were announced Barry Mirken.  Pictures were shared of Don Hubbard’s new car.  All members shared their name and what type of Model A they own.  Minutes from the January meeting were read allowed, MOTION to approve the minutes as written Don Hubbard, 2nd Ed Hedgpeth. New jackets were handed out and award name plates were shown.

EDITOR: Will Rose: reporting for Will, Bill Rose. The web site has been updated.  Advertisers can be given to Bill Rose for posting on the web site. Mitchell Mfg. was added as our first advertiser to the site.  Advertisers are welcome with a free link to their own web site; please ask for an app. if you have a business that might be interested.

SECRETARY/TREASURER: Lauren Alley, Linda Gutierrez would like to purchase cards and stamps for Sunshine chair.  MOTION to pay Linda Gutierrez a check for $25.00 to purchase cards and stamps by Lauren Alley, 2nd Ed Shannon membership approved. A club banner was purchased with the club logo on it by Bill Rose, MOTION Lauren Alley to pay Bill Rose the cost of the banner $76.13, 2nd Ed Hedgpeth. Our bank balance was announced less expenses all present approved. Statement of facts received from the state with the approved stamp of filing.

ACTIVITIES: Bill Rose, Seminar Sat. Jan. 10th by Melvin Krueshke on changing a 6V starter to a 12V, the seminar was very informative and helpful for all who attended. Feb. 7th seminar will be installing Armando Gutierrez 36% overdrive in his coupe, lunch will be provided possible small fee to help defer the costs. If you have a car that needs work the club will help you fix the car at your place or Bill Rose’s ranch.  We can have more than one seminar per month if the club has an interest. Feb. 10, 11 & 12th will be the Fun/Valentine Train to Reno, Nevada we currently have a group of 8 members, all will stay at the Silver Legacy Resort.  March 14th Mount Hamilton Tour is rescheduled for a later date due to the March 15th Bill Rose Crab/Steak Feast. April 17th, 18th, & 19th Antique Farm Equipment show in Tulare Valley, Need seminar for April possible safety check let Bill Rose know if anyone is interested in having a seminar. CCRG May 1, 2 & 3, Porterville, we leave on April 30th and travel through Fresno. Some events we attend are coordinated through the Southern, Central, & Northern regions these are all different organizations. To attend these events there are important cut off dates if you are planning to attend. May 22 – 25th Tahoe Round Up.  North West event for NCRG will be in Cottage Grove, Oregon  July 19th-24th.

SUNSHINE: Linda Gutierrez, reports Ed Shannon had a cold, Ryan Alley had surgery at Stanford Hospital and is back home now.

NEW AWARD: A new award was shown to membership for naming. MOTION Bill Rose to name the award “The Henry Award” acknowledging anyone in membership for a good deed, 2nd Don Hubbard, all membership present passed.

BAD LUCK TRUCK AWARD: Given to Bill Rose for engine trouble with the new installation of his rebuilt engine, the engine needs to be pulled out of the vehicle again.  MOTION by Ed Shannon to give the award to Bill, 2nd Wilma Shannon, all present approved.

NEW BUSINESS: Tour guidelines, we will need input from members on a rough draft that will be handed out at the next meeting.

SVMARC General/Board Meeting Minutes             January 7, 2009

 

Meeting called to order by Appointed President Bill Alley.  New member greeted, Pat Lovejoy who has a 31 A slant windshield. Members present Ed & Wilma Shannon, Alfi Gerhardt, Melvin Kreschke, Ed Hedgpeth, Linda & Armando Gutierrez.

Minutes were read for December, Appointed President Bill Alley made a MOTION to change all board positions to read appointed, 2nd Lauren Alley, approved, MOTION to approve minutes with change by Pat Lovejoy, 2nd Armando Gutierrez all members present approved.

Appointed Secretary/Treasurer/Membership Report Lauren Alley, New Members, Patrick, Jim, Mary, Adam Breiling & Pat Lovejoy, income of $85.00 to be deposited, no expenditures. 

Appointed Editor Report by Bill Alley for Will Rose, check out the web site it is being updated.

Appointed Activity chair report Bill Rose: Tour to Los Angeles on Dec. 29th to celebrate the New Year for one week was very nice.  The vehicles ran well, visited the Regan Library. Jan. 10th Sat. seminar changing a 6V starter to a 12V.  Snow Valentine Train will be Feb. 10th, 11th, & 12th to Reno.  Meet in Martinez 9:00 – 9:30am leave 10:00am cost $259.00 per person.  Train ride through Sacramento to Silver Legacy for 2 nights stay, return Thursday a light deli lunch is supplied for the ride home.  March 15th Crab Feast at the Livermore Ranch if you can help to decorate please contact Bill Rose (925) 216-9920.  Jackets were sized and individual names will be added, they will be available at the next meeting for pick up cost is $108.75, please bring payment at the next meeting.  If you have not ordered your jacket and would like one please contact Bill Rose. Members will match and show unity as we attend events during the year. 

Appointed Sunshine Linda Gutierrez:  Bill Rose had major surgery about three weeks ago and is doing very well now. 

AWARDS: MOTION by Lauren Alley to name the award for doing something dumb to be called “The Bell Award”, 2nd Ed Shannon, motion passes all members present approved.

MOTION by Pat Lovejoy to name the award for having bad luck “The Bad Luck Truck Award”, 2nd Armando Gutierrez motion passes all members present approved.  These awards will be engraved with all pertinent information.

Bill Rose received The Bad Luck Truck award for engine trouble, needing to pull the engine from his 31 slant and ship to H & H engine for repair.

Bill Alley received The Bell Award for not turning on the gas to start the engine; he blamed it on the carburetor.

ELECTIONS: President Elect Bill Alley explained nominations to the board and votes taken by raising a hand to appoint an officer, anyone can run for office and are encouraged to come forward during this process of voting.

SVMARC Board/General Meeting                    Dec. 3, 2008

 

PRESIDENT ELECT: Bill Alley called the 2nd meeting of SVMARC to order at 7:06pm declaring a quorum. Guests Patrick & Jim Breiling (who are now both members), Ken Strasser, Phil Carlson were welcomed. Bill Alley asked for changes or additions to our first draft of minutes.  MOTION by Armando Gutierrez to accept the minutes as written, 2nd Melvin Krusche motion passes.

TREASURER ELECT: Lauren Alley announced the bank balance and no expenditures.

SECRETARY ELECT: Lauren Alley announced the receipt of our San Jose Business License and the tax exempt status, and mail received.

ACTIVITIES ELECT: Bill Rose discussed the overnight tour lead by Armando & Linda Gutierrez to Mitchell Mfg., the Tractor/Truck Museum at the AG Center in Woodland, and lunch/shopping in old town Sacramento. This tour was a lot of fun everyone had a great time and shared their stories.  Next tour Bass Pro Shop December 10, meet at the Milpitas Donut shop at 8:30am leave at 9:00am. Next seminar January 11th  at Rose Ranch Greenville Road Livermore meet at Milpitas Donut Shop at 8:30am leave at 9:00am. Presenter: Melvin Kruschke converting 6V starter to 12V. Bring a 6V starter you will work on. Call Bill Rose he can help you with a list to order parts to complete the job.  Feb. 10th,11th, & 12th TRAIN RIDE TO RENO on the SNOW TRAIN.  Drive to Martinez take Amtrak train leave to Reno10:35am arrive in Reno about 6:00pm, back on Sunday the 12th to Martinez around 5:00pm. EDITOR ELECT: Will Rose, Bill Alley for Will explaining the web site again to enter the calendar and look at all events for each month. Click on arrows to advance month and dates to plan ahead for outings. 

OLD BUSINESS: Looking for a MARC volunteer, Linda Gutierrez has graciously accepted to be our Sunshine volunteer, Thank you Linda.  Jacket orders were taken, a request to add a picture to the web site of all club clothing and anything we sell.  We are working on implementing.

NEW BUSINESS: Bill Alley read allowed the proposed bylaws two grammatical errors were identified to be changed MOTION by Armando Gutierrez to accept the bylaws as written with the change of two grammatical errors, 2nd Ed Hedgepeth, all approved motion passes.

AWARDS:  Bill Alley explained the awards a Model A Pick Up Truck, and a Large ringing Bell Award on a stand known as the “Dumb Bell Award”.  Plaques will be made for both awards for presentation at meetings we need your help to name them.

SVMARC 1st Board/General Meeting on November 5th

 Meeting called to order by appointed President Bill Alley at 7:00 pm at the Sonoma Chicken Coop in Almaden. Some of the guests included Leonard Walker, Melvin Krueske, Don Hubbard, Wilma & Ed Shannon, Ewart Speer, Linda & Armando Gutierrez, Del Del Aquilla, Dale Hoover, Rich George, Pat Lovejoy, Jim Breiling, Patrick Breiling, Ed Hedgepeth, Phil Carlson, Ken Strasser, & John Vojnik. All guests stood and introduced themselves and the type(s) of Model A’s they owned or are looking for. President Bill Alley announced the incorporators of the club Bill Rose & Lauren Alley. Board members present were President: Bill Alley, Vice President: Gloria Rose, Membership: Sandi Rose, Editor/Webmaster: Will Rose, Activities: Bill Rose, Secretary/Treasurer: Lauren Alley.
 
MARC: Bill Rose stated that SVMARC is the only Northern California Region listed with MARC. They have been very receptive and helpful to get the club up and running. All members are required to join MARC to be considered members of SVMARC for insurance purposes.  MAFCA is optional to join this club.
 
MEETING LOCATION:  Sonoma Chicken Coop has offered SVMARC a return of 15% on all food items purchased from club members for the evening.  This will be a monthly fund raiser to help offset costs. Other locations are still being considered.

 BUDGET: Bill Rose discussed the projected budget for this year. It was a guideline with future budgets being more accurate once the club establishes expenses and income.  Budget expenses and income were roughly approximated.
 
EDITOR/WEB MASTER: Will Rose explained the use of our web site calendar at svmarc.com to see activities scheduled in advance. Advertisers can place a business card size ad on SVMARC web site for $25.00 per year which will include a link directly to their web site.

 MEMBERSHIP: Sandi Rose announced new members registered prior to the start of the meeting including: Don Hubbard, Bill & Gloria Rose, Will & Irene Rose, Sandi Rose, Bill & Lauren Alley, Ryan Alley, Amanda Azevedo, Kenny & Paulette Thomsen, & Alfi Gerhardt.

 VICE~PRESIDENT: Gloria Rose will be the official photographer for the web site.
 
TROPHY’S: This club will have a good luck and bad luck trophy.  If anyone has ideas to help the club, please contact the President’s e-mail address found on the web site.  There will be no charge to members for purchasing a new car but we would like members to tell us about their new purchases.

 SEMINARS: Bill Rose stated that if you have a project that needs to be completed talk to him about scheduling a seminar with the club.  Bill Rose is asking membership what types of seminars would be interesting.  Seminars will be scheduled every other month for now. If you can host a seminar it would be appreciated.
 
ACTIVITIES: Bill Rose encouraged communicating during the meetings to exchange ideas and also asked for parts they might need or information needed regarding their A. The Bass Pro shop tour has been delayed, we will notify all of the new date. No points will be issued for participation for any events. Ideas for activities and seminars are always welcome.
 
SECRETARY/TREASURER: Lauren Alley is waiting for Secretary of State filing of non-profit for SVMARC.  A bank account will be opened for the club once we receive the needed documentation.
 
CLUB LOGO, BANNER & CLOTHING: The club logo has been established and unveiled as seen on the celebration cake for the evening.  Jackets and hats are being made for members to see and place orders.  The club Banner will be made with the same logo.
 
COMMITTEE CHAIRS: Can you help the club with website and newsletter content, MARC information, seminars, activities, and peg board? Please let the board know.
  
NEXT BOARD/GENERAL MEETING: Dec. 3rd at 7:00pm at the Sonoma Chicken Coop on Almaden Expressway.
 
MOTION to adjourn at 8:15pm by Bill Rose, seconded by Lauren Alley, approved by all.
